Sacrococcygeal teratoma is the most common tumor in the newborn. Fetuses with this malformation are at risk for significant perinatal morbidity and mortality. Here, we report a premature infant born at 30 weeks of gestation with congenital sacrococcygeal teratoma who suffered tumor rupture and hemorrhage during delivery. Disseminated intravascular coagulation developed after surgical intervention. Repeated doses of fresh frozen plasma, platelet and packed red blood cell transfusions were required. In this report, we emphasize the risk of hemorrhagic complications and coagulopathy in premature infants with prenatally diagnosed sacrococcygeal teratoma.
