Effective volume therapy is a mainstay of managing critically ill patients. Crystalloid and colloid solutions for volume replacement are used in the intensive care unit for this purpose. Recently, it has been reported that colloids are clearly more effective than crystalloids in attaining resuscitation endpoints as judged by need for administration of far smaller volumes. Albumin offers several advantages compared with other colloids such as hydroxyethyl starch and dextran, by decreasing risk of coagulopathy and tissue deposition and, anaphylactoid reactions. In this review, we aimed to discuss the use of human albumin solution in three patients with distinct indications. Anahtar Kelimeler : albümin, kolloid onkotik basınç, kritik hasta, albumin, colloid oncotic pressure, critical patient
