Başkent Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi 1Pediatri Yardımcı Doçenti, 2Pediatri Uzmanı Pseudotumor cerebri is characterized by increased intracranial pressure in the absence of intracranial mass, obstructive hydrocephalus, hypertensive encephalopathy and infection. Endocrine and metabolic disorders, obesity, some drugs, hypervitaminosis A and sinus thrombosis have been demonstrated as etiologic factors. It should be included in the differential diagnosis of chronic headache, especially in obese patients. Papilledema, which is classically known as the most consistent sign of this syndrome, may not be present in all cases. We here describe an obese female patient who presented with chronic headache and was treated successfully with a diagnosis of pseudotumor cerebri without papilledema.
